About Ideal Option
Is Ideal Option a residential program?
No. Ideal Option is an outpatient clinic – very much like a primary care or other medical office. Patients do not stay overnight, they see us for short appointments, every few days to start and then less frequently over time. Our most stable patients come into the clinic for 30-minute appointments just once a month.
What are the credentials of Ideal Option providers?
Ideal Option providers are made up of medical doctors (MDs), physician assistants (PA-Cs), and nurse practitioners (ARNP, CRNP). Our clinics are also staffed by a combination of registered and certified medical assistants. Nearly all our physicians are board-certified in addiction medicine.
What training do Ideal Option providers receive?
Ideal Option providers are required to complete up to 24 hours of training to receive a practitioner waiver required by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to prescribe buprenorphine. Ideal Option is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and our providers regularly complete ASAM's trainings and reference up to date guidelines to ensure they are providing our patients with the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment available.
How will I be treated at Ideal Option?
Ideal Option received The Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission for meeting the highest standards for patient care in our outpatient clinics. We treat our patients like we would want to be treated ourselves: with respect, compassion, empathy, and without judgement. Everyone at Ideal Option understands that addiction is a disease, not a lifestyle choice, and that every patient's situation and history is unique. We take your privacy seriously and we will work hard to help you get better.
Where are Ideal Option clinics located?
We have over 80 clinics located in 9 states. For the most current list of Ideal Option clinics, visit our Find a Clinic page.
Why are some appointments with a telemedicine provider?
Seeing one of our providers via video conference (telemedicine) allows Ideal Option to provide care to many more patients each day than would be possible with onsite providers alone. This helps us help more people and ensure that we never have waitlists. Telemedicine also allows Ideal Option to offer treatment in rural locations where having a permanent onsite provider may not be possible.
Does Ideal Option count for court-ordered treatment?
This depends on each person’s circumstances and court order. Please contact us at 1.877.522.1275 to find out if Ideal Option will count for your court-ordered treatment.
I am in recovery, how can I help others?
Helping others start and stay in recovery is a great way to give back! Many of our patients do so by referring friends, family, and other people to us who need treatment. You may also volunteer to participate in a video story, interviews for news articles, social media campaigns, and other projects that help inspire others who need help. If you’re interested in participating in something like this, please email us at marketing@idealoption.net.
How can I refer others to Ideal Option?
Many of our new patients hear about Ideal Option from friends, family members, and other patients. If you know someone who needs help, encourage them to call us at 877.522.1275 or visit our website to complete a call-back request form.
